CLOAK PINS / PENANNULAR BROOCHES
Small penannular brooches are used to fasten clothing either at the collar or at the waist. Larger penannular brooches are
called Cloak Pins as they are used for fastening a cloak. All the designs on this page are very tough, solid and chunky.
WROUGHT IRON CLOAK PINS
Hand made on a traditional forge these cloak pins can be used for Iron-Age, Viking or Medieval re-enactment.
Sizes given refer to the diameter of the ring.

Small Viking penannular brooches to be used as clothes pins. Copies of original designs from Birka in solid bronze.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF PENNANULAR BROOCH / CLOAK PIN:
- Open the cloak pin so that the pin is pointing in the opposite direction to the hole in the ring.
- Stick the pin through the cloth and then back out again so that the pin is held in place by the cloth.
- Close the cloak pin all the way so that the end of the pin passes through the ring.
- Turn the ring though 90 degrees.
